Title: Librarian/Electronic Resources and Technical Services

Job Summary
Manages and maintains the library’s electronic resources and oversees technical services operations, ensuring that all materials are organized according to established library standards, the integrated library system functions effectively, and necessary materials are obtained through interlibrary loan when needed.
Job Duties
- Manage access to online databases, e-books, e-journals, streaming media, and other digital materials.
- Troubleshoot access issues and work with vendors and internal IT partners to resolve them.
- Administer discovery services and authentication applications.
- Maintain website through LibGuides.
- Lead the planning, maintaining, and updating of the library automation system; consult on cataloging, acquisitions, serials, and circulation.
- Perform original and copy cataloging.
- Maintain database usage, cataloging, and interlibrary statistics and submit to the Library Director.
- Contribute to collection development by selecting materials and supervise periodic inventories.
- Withdraw obsolete material from the collection.
- Oversee the borrowing of library materials from other libraries.
- Provide reference services at appropriate times.
- Teach individual and group library instruction sessions, including specialized instruction for classes.
- Serve on college committees as appropriate.
- Engage in professional development and maintain up‑to‑date subject‑matter expertise.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- M.L.S. or equivalent degree from an institution accredited by the American Library Association.
- Two years of experience with integrated library systems, OCLC, Library of Congress subject headings, and classification system.
Preferred Qualifications
- Academic library experience.
- Experience with OpenAthens authentication system.
- Administrative Certification for ExLibris ALMA.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in cataloging and library‑related technology applications.
- Fluency with library databases and other resources that support teaching and learning.
- Awareness of emerging technologies for the academic and library environment.
- Knowledgeable about licensing for electronic resources to ensure compliance with institutional policies and applicable laws.
- Highly developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office, web authoring tools (SpringShare), and course management systems (D2L, Blackboard) and virtual presentation tools (Teams, Zoom).
- Solid problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Strong customer service skills and ability to provide reference and instruction services in an academic library.
- Ability to work collaboratively to develop relationships within the Volunteer State community.
Pay Rate
$51,857 – $64,821 annual salary depending on experience.
