Job Overview
Performs custodial duties at County facilities and grounds.
Base Pay Range
$31,200.00/yr - $40,560.00/yr
Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspects facilities and grounds for custodial related needs such as cleaning, repairs, maintenance, and supplies.
- Inspects work of assigned custodians, and provides lead-worker guidance, training, and direction, as needed.
- Dusts, polishes, moves, and arranges furniture.
- Sweeps, mops, waxes, and polishes floors.
- Cleans and washes windows and mirrors.
- Cleans restrooms and replaces supplies.
- Empties garbage cans and wastebaskets.
- Performs minor repairs and maintenance of cleaning equipment.
- Reports requirement for major repairs, adjustments, or replacements.
- Inventories, orders, and replenishes paper products, cleaning supplies and related equipment.
- Opens and secures facilities, common areas, and grounds, as directed.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Job Specifications
Knowledge of cleaning supplies, products, and equipment. Knowledge of safety procedures in use of cleaning supplies, products, and equipment. Ability to provide effective guidance, training, and direction to other custodians. Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the work of others. Ability to effectively work with others. Ability to prepare and maintain records, logs, lists, and reports. Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in‑writing.
Physical Requirements
Walk, stand for long periods of time, kneel, crouch and work outside in a subtropical climate under adverse weather. Medium Work – exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Minimum Qualifications
- Completion of tenth grade.
- One year of experience in custodial duties.
Emergency Management Responsibilities
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee's department, the County's Office of Emergency Management, or County Administration. Such assignments may be for before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
Additional Job Requirements
- Maintain the ability to pass the background checks required for the position. These background checks may include but are not limited to:
- Criminal History Background Check using Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Level 1 and Level 2 Background screening (Ch. 435 Florida Statutes).
- Child Abuse, Abandonment and Neglect Record Check using the State Automated Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS).
- Sex Offender and Sexual Predator record check using the list maintained by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE).
- Possess the necessary job related license(s) or certification(s) that may include possession of a Florida Driver License (Class E) or an applicable Commercial Driver License (CDL).
