Bloomberg News is seeking a leveraged finance reporter to join its high‑profile credit team in New York.

Base pay: $90,000 - $120,000 per year.

Location: New York, NY.

About the Role

You will cover some of the riskiest debt deals in the leveraged loan and junk bond markets, focusing on private companies that have become increasingly important amid a boom in private capital. The ideal candidate will thrive in a competitive, fast‑paced environment, balancing breaking news in speculative‑grade debt markets with compelling enterprise stories for a broad audience.

What You’ll Do

  • Break news on leveraged loan and junk‑bond markets.
  • Develop sources to generate high‑impact, market‑moving scoops.
  • Uncover financial details of private companies and executives.
  • Analyze deals, funding markets, and explain their significance.
  • Talk authoritatively on Bloomberg TV, Bloomberg Radio, and Bloomberg QuickTake.
  • Write insightful, thought‑provoking stories that add value.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the global newsroom.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum four years experience in financial journalism or leveraged finance.
  • Deep knowledge of leveraged loans, private credit, and CLOs.
  • Ability to write quickly and clearly under deadline pressure.
  • Ability to generate exclusive, breaking news.
