Job Summary – User Experience Designer II

Creates intuitive, easy to use, and accessible customer journeys for customers: members, employers, brokers, and providers. Works with business and agile teams to gather requirements and partner with User Experience Researchers to understand customers' needs. Translates those findings into visually appealing designs that adhere to brand and design system standards, creating various UX deliverables like flow diagrams, wireframes, and high‑fidelity mockups for both responsive websites and native mobile applications.

Responsibilities – User Experience Designer II

  • Validates design decisions early using low‑fidelity deliverables like wireframes, flow maps, and information architecture diagrams
  • Supports the handoff of design to development by creating high‑fidelity mockups, prototypes, and other assets
  • Assists in conducting usability research and synthesizing findings into insights that drive design decisions
  • Participates in design thinking exercises and workshops to understand user needs, analyzes requirements from stakeholders, breaks down complex problems, and iteratively designs solutions
  • Participates in agile ceremonies to support the software development lifecycle
  • Adheres to design standards and uses design systems to maintain consistency
  • Ensures designs meet section 508 compliance using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications – User Experience Designer II

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Interactive Design, User Experience Design, Human‑Centered Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, or other design and technology related fields.
  • 3 years of experience as a User Experience Designer or equivalent experience designing experiences for web or mobile applications

Technical Skills & Experience – User Experience Designer II

  • Knowledge of design thinking methods such as wireframes, flow maps, information architecture, etc.
  • Proficiency with iterative design working within a standardized design system to maintain consistency and brand identity
  • Knowledge of the software design lifecycle and working with developers and other stakeholders in agile ceremonies and through software such as Jira, Sharepoint, Confluence, or other collaboration facilitation software
  • Understanding of accessible design and WCAG guidelines
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Knowledge of human‑centered design principles and user experience design tools such as Figma or other modern design software tools
  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS/JavaScript to support design to development handoff

Job Summary – User Experience Designer III

Working independently, creates intuitive, easy to use, and accessible customer journeys for customers: members, employers, brokers, and providers. Owns the design process end to end, breaking down complex problems and dispelling ambiguity to create simple solutions to customer experience breakdowns. Works with business and agile teams to gather requirements and partner with User Experience Researchers to understand customers' needs. Translates those findings into visually appealing designs that adhere to brand and design system standards, creating various UX deliverables like flow diagrams, wireframes, and high‑fidelity mockups for both responsive websites and native mobile applications. Facilitates design thinking exercises and workshops.

Education and Experience – User Experience Designer III

  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Interactive Design, User Experience Design, Human‑Centered Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, or other design and technology related fields.
  • 5 years of experience as a User Experience Designer or equivalent experience taking on increasingly complex design challenges for web or mobile applications.

Technical Skills & Experience – User Experience Designer III

  • Strong knowledge of design thinking methods such as wireframes, flow maps, information architecture, etc.
  • Strong proficiency with iterative design working within a standardized design system to maintain consistency and brand identity
  • Strong knowledge of the software design lifecycle and working with developers and other stakeholders in agile ceremonies and through software such as Jira, Sharepoint, Confluence, or other collaboration facilitation software
  • Understanding of accessible design and WCAG guidelines
  • Analytical and critical thinking
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Strong knowledge of human‑centered design principles and user experience design tools such as Figma or other modern design software tools
  • Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS/Javascript for supporting design to development transition

Job Summary – User Experience Designer IV

Under minimal supervision and with some latitude for decision making, creates intuitive, easy to use, and accessible customer journeys for customers: members, employers, brokers, and providers. Works with business and agile teams to gather requirements and partner with User Experience Researchers to understand customers' needs. Translates those findings into visually appealing designs that adhere to brand and design system standards, creating various UX deliverables like flow diagrams, wireframes, and high‑fidelity mockups for both responsive websites and native mobile applications. Provides design deliverables through mentoring and balancing workload for more junior designers on assigned project. Influences the product roadmap with design strategy and actively looks for process improvements for design as a practice.

  • Supports the handoff of design to development by creating high‑fidelity mockups, prototypes, and other assets
  • Assists in conducting usability research and synthesizing findings into insights that drive design decisions
  • Leads design strategy for a project to ensure that user experience enhancements are appropriately prioritized within the product roadmap
  • Facilitates design thinking exercises and workshops to understand user needs, gathers requirements from stakeholders, breaks down complex problems, and iteratively designs solutions
  • Participates in agile ceremonies to support the software development lifecycle and ensures appropriate level of work is assigned to the team
  • Champions design standards, participates in design governance, and reviews designs produced by the team to ensure that they are easy to use and adhere to design system patterns
  • Ensures designs meet section 508 compliance using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
  • Mentors junior designers to help them grow their skills, solve problems, and work effectively within agile crews
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Education and Experience – User Experience Designer IV

  • Bachelor's degree in Web Design, Interactive Design, User Experience Design, Human‑Centered Design, Human‑Computer Interaction, or other design and technology related fields.
  • 7 years of experience as a User Experience Designer or equivalent experience taking on increasingly complex design challenges for web or mobile applications, which includes mentoring or supervising more junior level staff.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of design thinking methods such as wireframes, flow maps, information architecture, etc.
  • Strong proficiency with iterative design working within a standardized design system to maintain consistency and brand identity
