About Visual Merchandising

The Visual Merchandiser supports a great guest experience by ensuring that visual moments are set and maintained to the company guides and visual standards to drive sales and inspire guests. They are experts in visual presentation, which includes elevated merchandising techniques, mannequin styling, mapping and fixture blocking, and In‑Store Marketing (ISM) elements.

Role Overview

As a Visual Merchandiser, you will:

  • Plan daily/weekly visual workload with leader guidance to include sales goals, events, and promotions.
  • Execute weekly visual assessments and partner with leaders to improve store visual execution and guest experience.
  • Assess and guide the execution of visual standards across the store to elevate visual presentations.
  • Support the execution of the company’s Visual Merchandising strategy and ISM across all pertinent areas of the store.
  • Validate the execution of all visual presentations in partnership with leaders.
  • Set overhead spotlights and non‑planogram ISM elements to highlight key merchandising presentations.
  • Adjust sets to create and maintain inspiring presentations while solving merchandising issues.
  • Leverage daily interactions to teach team visual standards and affordability strategy.
  • Maintain organization of backroom space and keep current signing tools and fixtures up to date.
  • Communicate and support team onboarding, continuous learning, and skill growth through training and hands‑on experiences.
  • Demonstrate inclusivity, ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work in a safe manner at all times.
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests and offering assistance as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as required by business needs.

What We’re Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 1–2 years of visual merchandising experience.
  • Business acumen and creativity to inspire guests and drive sales.
  • Strong understanding of trends and style that reflect the Target brand.
  • Ability to lead and influence store teams to follow visual merchandising processes.
  • Proficiency with handheld scanners, technology equipment, and communication devices.
  • Independent and collaborative work style, strong prioritization and time‑management skills.
  • Welcoming, helpful attitude toward all guests and team members.
  • Comfort with a fast‑moving, physically demanding role and flexible schedule (including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak shopping times).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Optional: ability to operate a pallet jack and climb ladders.
