Technology Designer
The Technology Designer assists Technology Consultants in the execution of the technical activities required on assigned projects and learns the technical standards and procedures of the Technology Group. Assists the project team in the production of projects on time, within budget, and consistent with industry standards. Participates in client meetings and performs job site visits alongside the Technology Consultant to ensure projects are executed as planned.
Key Responsibilities
Learns to understand industry standards, company technical policies and procedures, and technology systems during the execution of projects for clients
Observes and learns the industry standards and practices of design analyses using industry software
Routinely produces designs using Revit and/or CADD
Assists the design team in the coordination of project designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, provide input for operating procedures, and provide technical information
Observes and learns the information used by Technology Consultants to develop man‑hour budgets
Under supervision, assists in the execution of design processes and analysis on assigned projects and requests assistance from technology staff when needed
Learns how to communicate design requirements with contractors and equipment sales representatives to determine project scope and feasibility
Accompanies technology staff in client meetings and performing project job site visits to investigate field conditions and monitor progress based on design specifications, owner expectations, and building codes
Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, schematics, and engineering reports
Actively attends internal and external training and other educational opportunities to obtain knowledge in necessary technical areas
Ideal Candidate Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, or relevant degree OR four years of relevant experience (e.g., design, application, and/or administration of low voltage systems)
General knowledge and understanding of industry specific software (i.e., Revit and AutoCAD)
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
General knowledge and understanding of technology systems
