At Collins Aerospace, we design the backbone of mission systems, safeguarding the lives of those who protect us. As our next Systems Engineer, you will immerse yourself in the intricacies of Strategic Nuclear Deterrence and Strategic Programs. What You Will Do Lead a team of systems and software engineers through design, development and documentation of commercial applications to meet industry standards (DO-178C/ARP-4754). Coordinate with external customer to ensure compliance and adherence to airworthiness requirements of the Flight Deck and Mission System. Engage with customers and internal engineering teams to support future growth within Strategic Solutions. Plan project level work and meet schedule, cost, and performance goals. Manage program technical risks by evaluating requirements and design aspects. Interact with a cross‑functional team of Engineers, Engineering leaders, Program Managers, Business Developers, Finance, Quality, and Production. Travel occasionally to support program requirements. Requires on‑site presence occasionally in a classified lab space. What You Will Learn Commercial solutions developed for commercial derivative military platforms. Be a champion within our CORE Operating Systems. Collins Mission Systems RLPM process and support defining future business opportunities within Strategic Solutions. Qualifications You Must Have Typically requires a STEM degree and minimum 10 years of relevant experience or an advanced degree with minimum 7 years of experience. U.S. citizenship required for security clearance. Three (3) years of experience designing, developing and integrating commercial applications on military or civilian platforms with compliance to DO-178C and ARP‑4754. Three (3) years of experience with Collins’ ProLine Fusion System and Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) framework. Two (2) years of proven experience leading and mentoring a team of Systems Engineers on program performance, using a framework to make data‑driven decisions. Qualifications We Prefer Project Management, Control Account Management (CAM), and earned value experience. Knowledge of bidding and project/task estimation tools (e.g., SEER products). Experience with processes such as peer review, configuration, and change management. Participation in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
