Position: Math Competition Problem Writer Type: Independent Contractor Compensation: $50–$85/hour Location: Remote Duration: ~2 months Commitment: 20–40 hours/week
Role Responsibilities
Write original and advanced IMO-style mathematics problems to challenge frontier AI models.
Evaluate AI-generated solutions for correctness, clarity, and style.
Identify logical flaws, incomplete reasoning, or insufficiently rigorous proofs.
Provide clear, concise, and correct solutions with chain-of-thought reasoning.
Maintain extremely high standards of mathematical precision and problem difficulty.
Work independently and asynchronously to meet deadlines and improve AI model performance.
Qualifications Must-Have
Highly proficient in writing and formatting documents using LaTeX.
Expertise across algebra, combinatorics, and number theory.
Ability to clearly articulate complex reasoning in written form.
Rigorous attention to detail in verifying solutions.
Independent, reliable, and disciplined work style.
Preferred
Experience as a problem writer, coach, selection committee member, or medalist (gold, silver, bronze).
Participation in IMO, IMO TST, RMM, USAMO, APMO, IMC, or EGMO.
Start Date
Rolling start dates; setup typically within 1–2 days of approval.
Compensation & Legal
Open to contributors worldwide (English proficiency required).
Independent contractor arrangement through Mercor.
Weekly payments via Stripe Connect.
