As a
Designer
at LJA
Transportation , you will be responsible for developing detailed 2D and 3D roadway models, plans, and deliverables using design software such as MicroStation and OpenRoads to meet agency and client specifications. You will ensure quality and consistency across projects by managing design standards, document control systems, and production schedules while supporting efficient, accurate project delivery. Typical Day
Preparation of standards and best‑management procedures that drive production consistencies and quality across all project team members (internal and external) Management of document control procedures and systems such as ProjectWise or SharePoint that maximize efficiencies Development of horizontal/vertical geometries and three‑dimensional models in MicroStation and Open Roads Modeler (or comparable CAD software) using design criteria and specifications established by agencies and clients that we support Production of project deliverables utilizing techniques to improve quality and efficiencies Generation of construction quantities using client specifications and guidelines for engineer’s estimates Determination of production budgets and schedules needed per deliverable Required Qualifications
High school or technical school education with courses in CAD (equivalent experience considered) A minimum of seven (7) years of CAD and/or engineering technician experience producing transportation project deliverables Experience with the latest version of AutoCAD or MicroStation Effective oral and written communication skills with ability to build strong relationships and interact effectively with coworkers and public agency officials Passion for mentoring others with less experience/capabilities into highly productive team members Flexibility to change work assignments on short notice as project needs change Preferred Qualifications
Experience with MicroStation ORD Previous work on TxDOT or other state DOT projects Ability to create and manage production standards and document control procedures using appropriate software including ProjectWise, SharePoint, etc. Benefits
