Dallas Business Journal is looking for a driven and enterprising reporter to cover the economic evolution of North Texas. This Hybrid position requires on‑site presence in Dallas three days a week and involves deep investigative reporting, breaking news coverage, and long‑term source‑driven stories. Candidates should thrive in both fast‑paced, breaking-news environments and in sustained, in‑depth assignments. The day‑to‑day work will include writing short‑form and long‑form pieces for the website and the weekly print edition, working with high‑profile executives, and delivering forward‑looking business intelligence to a readership that uses it to grow their enterprises.
Responsibilities
Report and write short‑form and long‑form stories for the website and print edition.
Develop and manage relationships with high‑level executives and community leaders.
Scoop competitors on stories of significance, uncovering the why and how behind events.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
Demonstrated ability to break news and identify newsworthy events and sources.
Strong analytical and investigative‑interviewing skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Comfortable interacting with a wide range of people, in person, on the phone, and online.
Clear drive to develop sources and build audience.
Solid understanding of news writing, journalistic ethics, and story structure.
Multimedia skills, including video, photos, and broadcast production.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom, and other web‑communication platforms.
