Job Title: Designer 4 – Mechanical Engineering Design
Location: Chandler, AZ
About the Role We are seeking an experienced Designer 4 to join our Mechanical Engineering Design team. This role involves working within a high‑performing design / drafting group, ensuring the accuracy and compliance of drawing and design packages with industry and military standards. You will be responsible for checking designs for fit, function, manufacturability, and fabrication efficiency, including tolerance analysis and hardware fitment.
This position requires expertise in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and the ability to resolve interpretation issues on drawings. You will also verify 3D models submitted to manufacturing using Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter, and collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality teams, and vendors.
Responsibilities
Review mechanical drawings for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with standards.
Perform mechanical modeling using Siemens NX managed with Teamcenter.
Create and revise parametric drawings in accordance with ASME 3D modeling and drawing standards.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff as needed.
Liaise with cross‑functional teams including engineering, manufacturing, and quality.
Support vendor interactions and ensure design intent is maintained.
Maintain documentation and ensure digital product definitions align with ASME Y14.41.
Ensure designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost‑efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree in Drafting or Engineering (2‑year technical program) and 6+ years of relevant experience.
Proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5‑2009 (GDTP Professional Certification preferred).
Experience with Digital Product Definition practices per ASME Y14.41.
Strong understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC milling and lathe operations.
Proficiency in Siemens NX and Teamcenter.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Comfortable working extended periods at a workstation.
Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with weld design per AWS D17.1 and D1.1 (AWS CWI certification preferred).
Prior experience working on DoD programs.
Familiarity with ASME Y14.100 and MIL-STD-100 standards.
