Position Summary The Marketing Communications Specialist is primarily responsible for creating, organizing, scheduling and analyzing email and text (SMS) communications to Verdes customers. Using excellent writing and communication skills, as well as functional digital design skills, the Marketing Communications Specialists works closely with other members of the Verdes marketing team to deploy regular communications to both broad and highly-segmented customer groups that are timely, accurate, and representative of the Verdes brand. Additionally, the Marketing Communications Specialist uses these skills to help inform the written and visual content of the Verdes website, blog, and other communication tools designed to keep our customers engaged and informed.

Key Responsibilities Email and SMS Marketing Use first-party data sources to create segmented audiences for Verdes customers based on a variety of factors (location, purchase history, spend levels, etc.) Create and send engaging, informative email newsletters in a regular cadence, ensuring that they are both representative of the brand and compliant with NMRLD regulations. Engage customers with SMS marketing that motivates high-value actions, in both automated and manually scheduled contexts. Measure the performance of email and SMS marketing communications, clearly sharing successes as well as opportunities for growth from campaign-to-campaign. Copywriting and Editing Write marketing copy for numerous mediums, including email, SMS, web, social media, print and digital. Provide expert-level editing of written content, ensuring that all written communications are clear, accurate, and representative of brand voice. Collaborate with other Verdes staff members on creating new long-form written content, such as educational materials, blog posts and printed collateral. Web Management & Funnel Optimization Work with the Director of Marketing to create and update written content used on the Verdes website. Using a solid foundation in writing for the web to inform how website content should be structured and created in a way that adheres to best practices. Use tools like Google Search Console, Google Analytics, and SEMRush to ensure that written content on the website is keyword-focused and SEO optimized. Digital Marketing & Analytics Support the Director of Marketing and the marketing team with the written and visual content of other digital marketing channels as needed. Track campaign performance in Google Analytics and SEMrush, and report insights regularly Ensure consistency between organic, paid, and owned channels for full-funnel alignment Stay up-to-date on the latest trends in cannabis advertising, as well as pertinent State and Federal guidelines, helping to plan and deploy content on new channels that are legally compliant.

Minimum Qualifications At least 2 years of experience in marketing communications, including written content for both traditional and digital channels. A writing sample may be requested if selected for further consideration. Strong background in promotional, lifecycle and/or web copywriting Hands-on experience with email and SMS marketing tools, such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Klaviyo, etc. Preferred Qualifications Experience managing websites and CMS platforms (WordPress preferred), including SEO best practices Proficient in Google Analytics (GA4), SEMrush, Unbounce and UTM parameter tracking Experience in cannabis, retail, or CPG Familiarity with Dutchie, Alpine IQ or other cannabis-specific marketing platforms
