PCB Designer - Cadence Allegro Experience Location: Hybrid San Jose Employment Type: Full-time Temporary (3+ months)
Pay Rate: $70 - $100 per hour
We are seeking a talented and experienced PCB Designer with expertise in Cadence Allegro PCB design tools to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, layout, and optimization of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for high-reliability power solutions.

to join our Engineering team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in the design, layout, and optimization of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) for high-reliability power solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop complex
PCBs
for high-reliability power electronics, meeting stringent performance, manufacturability, and reliability requirements. Utilize
Cadence Allegro PCB Designer
and associated tools to create and modify PCB layouts from initial concept through production release. Collaborate with circuit design engineers, mechanical engineers, and manufacturing teams to optimize PCB designs for high-density layouts and performance requirements. Select appropriate materials, stack-ups, and build requirements for PCBs, ensuring compliance with high-reliability standards such as
IPC Class 3
or MIL-specs. Implement and enforce
Design for Manufacture (DFM)
and
Design for Assembly (DFA)
guidelines, working closely with fab vendors to validate designs. Support
Power Integrity (PI)
and
Signal Integrity (SI)
analysis to ensure optimal performance of high-reliability products. Incorporate electrical schematics, netlists, mechanical design constraints, and critical components into PCB layout designs. Manage library creation and component placement using
Allegro PCB Designer . Perform thorough
design rule checks (DRC)
and troubleshoot layout issues to ensure a quality design, including constraint-driven designs. Coordinate with cross-functional teams during prototype builds, debugging, and product lifecycle management. Maintain documentation and design files, ensuring compliance with company and industry standards. Requirements
Education & Experience:
Associate or Bachelor's degree in
Electronics Engineering Technology , Electrical Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience. Minimum of
3-5 years of experience in PCB layout and design , with a
strong emphasis on Cadence Allegro PCB Designer
and related tools. Experience designing PCBs for high-reliability applications (aerospace, defense, or industrial markets) is highly desirable. Technical Skills:
Expertise in
Cadence Allegro
PCB layout tools, including
PCB Editor ,
Library Development , and Constraint Management tools. Proficient in PCB design principles, such as signal integrity, power integrity, controlled impedance routing, and EMI/EMC compliance. Strong understanding of
design standards for high-reliability products
(e.g., IPC Class 3, MIL-PRF-31032, or equivalent). Familiarity with
DFM/DFA
principles and experience working with PCB manufacturers to optimize production. Knowledge of multi-layer board designs, including power/ground planes, blind and buried vias, and HDI (High-Density Interconnect) techniques. Hands-on experience working with component libraries, BOMs, and schematic capture tools. Experience with thermal analysis, power distribution networks, and high-current designs is a plus. Soft Skills:
Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design issues. Excellent collaboration and communication abilities to work effectively within a cross-functional team environment. Proactive, self-driven, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with
power electronics
or
analog circuit designs . Familiarity with
PLM software
or
version control systems
for managing design files. Experience with
Altium Designer
or other PCB CAD tools is a bonus. Familiarity with
SPICE simulation
tools for circuit validation is a plus.
