Worthington Steel's Summer Internship Program is a 12-week program that is from May 11th - July 30th, and located onsite in Columbus, Ohio.

The Communications intern joins a Corporate Communications team focused on enhancing the Worthington Steel brand for internal and external stakeholders.

This position assists in the areas of employee engagement, research, content development, social media and media relations. The ideal candidate has excellent writing and communication skills who can easily juggle multiple assignments at once and can effectively interact with all levels of the organization.

Please Note:

Interns are based at our company headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, where they will maximize their experience by working in the office at minimum three days per week. Worthington Steel is not responsible for providing supplemental housing for students.

The Communications intern participates in our company-wide Summer Internship Program that helps interns develop professional skills through on-the-job experience. During this 12-week program, interns will complete a business-driven project. Upon graduation, each intern will present their project to their manager, mentors and members of senior leadership.

The Communications intern will spend the majority of their time receiving on-the-job experience and classroom learning. Classes will feature topics from general business etiquette, to resume writing, interviewing and presenting with confidence.

In keeping with Our Philosophy, the program will also feature a community service component.

Responsibilities Manages assigned business-related project Supports Communications team as assigned Develops, writes and executes content for internal and external audiences Utilizes AI tools to enhance research, streamline content development and optimize communication strategies Tracks and reports on content performance Desired Experience

Excellent research and writing skills (AP style and journalism highly preferred) Computer skills in Excel, PowerPoint and Word Familiarity with LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram Ability to juggle several assignments at once, to work independently to achieve completion Comfortable engaging internally and externally as a member of the Worthington Steel team Current sophomore or junior working toward a bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing or public relations or related field Ability to meet the onsite required hours on-site in Columbus, Ohio
