Job Summary & Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic sleep procedures for patients as ordered by a physician, following established protocols, standards, and practices.
- Laboratory set-up
- Patient preparation
- Performing, observing, and evaluating daytime and overnight polysomnograms
- Scoring sleep staging
- Assisting in tabulation of data from scored records, monitoring and checking equipment for adjustments during the study.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Sleep Lab Manager and requires thorough knowledge of the function and safe operation of equipment used to monitor and record breathing (airflow/effort), electroencephalograms (brain waves), electrocardiograms (heart rate and rhythm), electromyograms (muscle activity), and pulse oximetry (blood oxygenation/saturation).
Incumbents are also accountable for maintaining their skills and knowledge by participating in conferences, technical meetings, and other educational activities as required by their certification of registration and participating in departmental quality assurance programs within the scope of hospital-wide program.
Job Requirements
- Certification by the Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT).
- Current registration as an EEG Technician through the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) preferred.
- Current BLS certification required.
- Successful completion of an American Board of Sleep Medicine (ABSM) accepted educational program leading to an Associate degree with an emphasis in polysomnography.
- OR successful completion of a polysomnography program of at least one year duration associated with a state licensed or nationally accredited educational facility, or equivalent experience and documented proficiency demonstrating the requisite job knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Competitive hourly pay: USD 39.47 - 54.30 / hour.
