Job Summary
With a four‑day work week schedule, KCRG is seeking a weekend morning co‑anchor to help lead the dominant newscast in the market. This position works four 10‑hour days, with general reporting two days a week and anchoring/producing the #1 weekend morning newscast with a co‑anchor/producer. The additional hours allow for prep work for the morning newscasts, like scheduling guests or pre‑producing segments, as well as in‑depth reporting and digital opportunities such as live‑stream anchoring and podcasting. That makes this a unique opportunity to learn different modes of journalism and experiment with new platforms, all while growing with a dominant #1 news organization.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Anchor newscasts, presenting information clearly and professionally.
- Find and develop news stories around information and events in the area.
- Creatively shoot, write, and edit locally‑produced news reports.
- Write and produce newscasts covering the top local and national headlines.
- Write and post stories and videos for the station’s digital platforms.
- Develop social media audience and engage with that audience regularly.
- Maintain high journalistic standards in line with station brand and goals.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Previous professional TV newsroom experience.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Journalism, Mass Communications, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Previous on‑air experience.
- Strong news judgement and editorial skills.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Drive to experiment and learn on digital and emerging platforms.
