VIDEO EDITOR II
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Translate business needs into strong visual creative at both the conceptual and execution level.
- Provide strategic leadership in video editing and implementing a vision to elevate the overall quality of SpaceX’s video content, particularly for major missions and projects.
- Lead the editing process for major space missions, ensuring a seamless and captivating narrative that highlights key moments with technical excellence.
- Apply color grading techniques to footage to enhance visual storytelling and ensure consistency and continuity of color throughout the entire project.
- Work closely with project leads to bring a higher level of artistic and technical proficiency to the storytelling and video editing process.
- Take charge of crafting video content showcasing the transformative impact of SpaceX on the future of space exploration while maintaining a professional and polished aesthetic.
- Collaborate closely with Cinematographers, Producers, and other cross-functional teams, providing professional expertise to ensure cohesive storytelling that elevates the overall production value.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of experience as a video editor.
- Experience working for global clients and brands.
PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in video editing or video production.
- 10+ years of experience with demonstrated expertise as a video editor, with a portfolio that showcases excellence in storytelling and technical proficiency.
- Demonstrate awareness of industry trends and technological advancements in video editing, contributing to the implementation of best practices to enhance the quality of video content.
- Exceptional proficiency in video editing software and post-production tools, with a proven ability to achieve the highest standards in visual quality and storytelling.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to lead and collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- A passionate creative developer who can take direction on some projects and is willing to take the lead on others.
- Ability to present relevant interactive work examples to qualify for the position.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

- Must be willing to work some weekends to support launch operations and critical project timelines.
- Willingness to travel to remote launch sites or production locations as needed.
- This role is 100% onsite at our Hawthorne, CA office and is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Pay range: Colorist/Level II: $90,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year. Your actual level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job‑related knowledge and skills, education, and experience. The base salary is part of a total rewards package that may include long‑term incentives, company stock, stock options, or long‑term cash awards, discretionary bonuses, and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Benefits include comprehensive medical, vision, and dental coverage, access to a 401(k) retirement plan, short‑ and long‑term disability insurance, life insurance, paid parental leave, and various discounts. Employees accrue 3 weeks of paid vacation and are eligible for 10 or more paid holidays per year. Paid sick leave is accrued pursuant to Company policy, which satisfies or exceeds applicable law.
ITAR REQUIREMENTS
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, the applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, a lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder), a refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, an asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
