Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) seeks a Library Technical Assistant I for Taylor Correctional Institution, Education Department. The mission of this role is to support the educational and rehabilitative efforts of the institution by providing inmates with access to a variety of informational, educational, and recreational reading materials.

Job Duties

  • Process inmate requests and grievances related to general and law library services, ensuring timely responses and availability of the library for a minimum of 25 hours per week.
  • Supervise and assign research duties to inmate clerks and aides, monitor their activities, evaluate performance for gain time review, and initiate disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Monitor the checkout and return of library materials, interlibrary loan processing, and use of the copy machine, ensuring accuracy of records.
  • Perform photocopying, maintain inventory of supplies, and manage library resources in accordance with rules and statutes.
  • Collect data, compile reports for librarian approval, and forward law library invoices and charge forms.

Requirements

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.

Background Screening Requirement

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all applicants to pass a Level 2 background check under Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, prior to employment.

FDC only hires U.S. citizens and those authorized to work in the U.S. Applicants must complete the I-9 form and may be subject to E-Verify.
