Senior Mechanical Designer 2 (Plant 3D / Revit Projects) - Nuclear
Location: Chattanooga, TN
Join Sargent & Lundy as a Senior Mechanical Designer, focusing on 3‑D modeling and Revit/Plant 3D projects for nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
Work under the direction of the Mechanical Project Lead to develop mechanical general arrangement, piping isometric, pipe support, and mechanical equipment layout drawings within a 3‑D model.
Utilize Autodesk Plant 3D and Revit to generate design deliverables, BOMs, and commodity lists.
Interpret piping & instrumentation diagrams created in Plant 3D and produce consistent physical designs.
Lead the mechanical design team during the detailed design phase of an integrated mechanical model.
Identify and resolve clashes and discrepancies in the 3‑D model, reporting status to stakeholders.
Coordinate with other designers and project team members to ensure complete and timely design.
Plan and execute independent mechanical design tasks.
Mentor less‑experienced drafters and designers.
This position is based on a hybrid work schedule and requires in‑office work 3 days per week.

Qualifications
12+ years of detailed mechanical plant design experience (piping, pipe supports, equipment layout).
Proficiency with Autodesk Plant 3D, Revit, AutoCAD Mechanical, MEP, Map 3D, Navisworks Manage, and related software.
Deep understanding of P&ID integration, clash detection, and discrepancy resolution.
Experience reviewing vendor drawings, drawing requirements, and interface points.
Ability to interface with multidisciplinary engineering and design teams.
Strong communication, leadership, and mentoring skills.
Valued But Not Required Experience

Compensation Range $82,120.00 – $128,570.00
