Our Podcast Marketing team is dedicated to the strategic planning and execution of all consumer marketing efforts to develop our show’s audiences across audio, video, and social, ultimately helping us strengthen Vox Media’s overall podcast business.

What You’ll Do

We’re looking for a creative, strategic, ambitious Sr. Social Marketing Strategist to grow and energize the fan communities behind our slate of hit podcasts, helping our shows reach new people and turn casual followers into passionate superfans. That means partnering with individual show production teams to improve their social strategy and optimize their content to meet our audience and business goals, developing benchmarks and best practices for our podcasts across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and other key channels, and interpreting social performance metrics for show teams. For certain shows, you’ll also advise on the best approaches for driving audiences down‑funnel to become paying subscribers. Finally, you’ll lead testing and experimentation in the social space, developing new social‑first ideas and formats for our podcasts, evaluating emerging channels like Substack, Bluesky or Discord, and testing new tools and strategies to make our social and community‑building efforts more effective. At times you may also roll up your sleeves and help with episode clipping, social copy writing, audience engagement activity, or social graphic creation for specific shows or campaigns. Broadly, you’ll act as a proactive, trusted audience development partner for our show teams, bringing an audience‑first, data‑driven perspective to day‑to‑day discussions about what strategies to pursue to help our shows grow.

Proactively bring forward big, creative ideas for reaching new audiences and engaging a show’s fan base

Create and maintain playbooks and best practices for content across key social platforms (CTA language, hashtags, posting cadence, etc.)

Collaborate with individual show teams to optimize their content, posting and audience engagement strategy

Work with our designers to create appropriate brand assets for each channel, including social avatars, header images, posting templates, etc.

Use data to guide hosts and producers on effective storytelling and audience engagement techniques for social

Assist with identifying content from each show to repurpose into compelling social video or social posts

Help show teams cultivate their fan communities across social platforms through regular engagement, comment moderation, and community prompts

Develop and execute community‑building campaigns (e.g., challenges, Q&As, live chats) that drive engagement

Develop strategies for driving our most loyal fans to participate in subscription programs, live events, merch, etc.

Develop and execute new processes for shows to share audiences across social through collab posts, content sharing, custom content, etc.

Monitor and surface relevant trends and conversations in podcast fandoms, social media culture, and individual platforms that could impact our strategy

Work with our platform reps and other internal Vox Media social leads to keep our team informed about technical changes and upcoming audience / revenue opportunities within each platform

Identify relevant social accounts and online communities for unique integration, collaboration or promotion opportunities for our shows

Present audience insights to internal stakeholders to inform creative and strategic decisions on a regular basis

Track and report on social KPIs across platforms, offering regular performance insights to show teams

Analyze what topics, formats and executional tactics perform best and why, turning findings into actionable recommendations

Work with our analytics team to test new reporting tools, build useful social analytics dashboards, and improve our reporting process for show teams and leadership

Research and evaluate opportunities for shows to build community on emerging platforms like Discord, BlueSky, Substack and others

Help test community‑building strategies for our paid subscribers, including private communities, forums and fan groups

Test new platforms and third‑party tools to make our teams more effective, e.g., post automation, content creation, AI tools, etc.

Collaborate with marketing, editorial, and tech teams to scale learnings from experiments into network‑wide strategies

What You’ll Bring

Deep expertise in growing audiences organically across social platforms, particularly Instagram and TikTok

Fluency in social media culture, with an ability to spot rising trends, relevant conversations and engagement opportunities across multiple genres and audience categories

Experience writing engaging audience‑facing copy in different brand voices (e.g., social media posts, video titles, promotional language)

Direct experience cutting, clipping and optimizing video content for social

Experience analyzing data to make informed decisions, particularly on social channels

Proven ability to work with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships with internal and external partners, with experience in client service a plus

Strong visual design sensibility (experience with Photoshop a plus)

A creative, proactive, solutions‑oriented mindset

An understanding of audiences across a range of channels and platforms

A track record of learning new channels, industries and markets quickly

Enthusiasm for learning and growing

Experience with Premiere, AfterEffects or other video editing tools

Experience working with high‑profile talent a plus

Pay Range $90,000 – $105,000 USD
