Job Description Under direction of a licensed architect or project manager, develop and manage all phases of architectural design for projects of various scales, including small- to large-scale buildings, mixed-use developments, and urban-scale planning projects. This includes concept design, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration; conduct feasibility studies, site analysis, programming, and master planning for complex urban-scale developments, integrating zoning regulations, sustainability strategies, and community needs into cohesive design solutions; lead design development by translating conceptual ideas into architectural plans, ensuring aesthetic, functional, and technical excellence by project goals, client expectations, and industry best practices; research, analyze, and apply local, national, and international building codes, zoning laws, accessibility guidelines, and sustainability standards including LEED and WELL to ensure regulatory compliance and sustainable design implementation; produce and refine design presentations through a combination of freehand sketches, physical models, and digital renderings using industry-standard software, including Revit, AutoCAD, Rhino, Enscape, D5, 3D Studio MAX, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign; set up and manage VR architectural visualization environments for design presentations and in-house design reviews, ensuring high-quality immersive experiences for clients and stakeholders; prepare detailed construction documentation, including architectural drawings, specifications, schedules, and material selections, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and coordination with structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines; act as a liaison between clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies, facilitating project coordination, permitting, & approval processes to ensure timely execution; coordinate with multidisciplinary teams, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection (MEP/FP), landscape, lighting, acoustic, curtain wall, security, and signage consultants, to integrate engineering systems into architectural designs; oversee construction administration tasks, including site visits, field reports, punch lists, submittal reviews, and RFIs, ensuring design integrity and compliance with construction documents; assist in project budgeting and cost estimation by reviewing bids, contractor proposals, and material selections, collaborating with clients and project managers to align design aspirations with financial constraints; implement sustainable and high-performance building design principles, working with sustainability consultants to incorporate passive design strategies, energy-efficient technologies, and resilient building materials; participate in post-occupancy evaluations and design performance reviews, analyzing user feedback and building performance metrics to inform future projects and continuous improvement strategies; analyze sketches, photographs, notes, and site surveys to determine the best approaches for resolving technical design issues related to site conditions, building structure, HVAC, electrical and plumbing systems, fire protection, and material selections for intricate detailing; prepare comprehensive design documentation for corporate, commercial, and mixed-use projects, ensuring compliance with client requirements, landlord approvals, and municipal regulations; conduct field observations and site visits during construction phases to review structural, MEP, and architectural elements for compliance with contract documents and design intent; coordinate with contractors and owners to ensure the design intent is achieved throughout the construction process, reviewing shop drawings, submittals, and requests for changes to align with architectural vision and technical requirements; implement high-performance design strategies across a range of project types, including transportation infrastructure, high-rise buildings, and retail environments, ensuring seamless integration of sustainability measures; work in conjunction with sustainable design leadership in the continued improvement and development of high-performance design practices to maintain and improve the quality and consistency of the design environment; collaborate with project teams to integrate innovative digital workflows, computational design strategies, and AI-enhanced modeling techniques to optimize design efficiency and project outcomes.
