Position Summary:

The Senior Designer, Sweaters will be responsible for leading the design and development of high‑quality knitwear for the Donna Karan and BCBG brands. This individual will bring a strong understanding of luxury sweater construction, yarns, and silhouettes, merging modern trends with brand heritage. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners to execute cohesive, fashion‑forward collections that align with seasonal concepts and merchandising strategies.

Key Accountabilities Development

Research current and emerging fashion trends, applying insights that align with the Donna Karan and BCBG brand aesthetics.

Conduct extensive market, fabric, and style research through blogs, magazines, street‑style, and vintage sources to inform seasonal direction.

Develop well‑balanced, seasonally relevant collections that reflect brand identity and strategic merchandising goals.

Communicate seasonal design intent and concept direction to factories, requesting initial treatments and mock‑ups.

Sample Phase

Create comprehensive tech packs that include detailed information on silhouettes, garment construction, trims, and finishes.

Review prototypes, attend fittings, and communicate adjustments to overseas factories using annotated photos, specs, and sketches.

Evaluate collection development and refine designs or re‑fabricate styles to align with SKU targets and seasonal objectives.

Collaborate with the stylist and design team to translate concept‑driven styles into runway‑ready pieces.

Support from Collection to Production

Partner with the Merchandising team and SVP of Design during seasonal product introductions.

Work closely with Production Managers to ensure correct execution of design, colour, and fabrication throughout the production process.

Respond to merchandising requests and provide creative support as needed across categories.

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years of experience in high‑end fashion design with a strong focus on luxury sweaters.

Expert knowledge of sweater design, including stitches, yarns, gauges, and silhouettes.

Strong technical understanding of pattern drafting, draping, and fabric construction.

Experience in both retail and wholesale product development environments.

Exceptional organisational, communication, and presentation skills.

Strong attention to detail and ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, creative environment.

Salary Range:

$105,000 – $150,000 per year
