Principal Data Analyst - Client Analytics and Marketing Operations (CAMO), PULSE Network At Capital One, data is at the center of everything we do. This role will be hired as a Capital One associate but will play a critical part in project execution and delivery for Discover Financial Services as part of our integration effort.

The Client Analytics and Marketing Operations (Team CAMO) sits within Discover’s PULSE Debit Network and drives profitable growth by managing a portfolio of tools, vendors, partners, and processes that support marketing campaigns, compliance, and risk reduction. Team CAMO captures data for, and shares insights into, our clients’ lifecycle journeys so that PULSE Marketing, Sales, and Operations teams can make data‑driven decisions that gain or retain network volume.

Role Overview As a Principal Data Analyst on Team CAMO, you will collaborate with internal stakeholders to provide recommendations and deliver standard, automated, and ad‑hoc reporting and visualizations related to the complexities of our customers’ debit transactions. We are looking for a candidate who is passionate about innovating and simplifying how we query data and deliver information.

Core Responsibilities On any given day you will be challenged on three types of work – Innovation, Business Intelligence, and Data Management.

Innovation

Use open source and digital technologies to mine complex, voluminous, and varied data sources and platforms.

Build well‑managed data solutions, tools, and capabilities to enable self‑service frameworks for data consumers.

Demonstrate the ability to explore and quickly grasp new technologies to advance varied initiatives.

Business Intelligence

Partner with the business to provide consultancy and translate business needs into the design and development of tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and visualization.

Drive analysis that provides meaningful insights on business strategies.

Data Management

Drive understanding and adherence to principles of data quality management, including metadata, lineage, and business definitions.

Work collaboratively with appropriate technical teams to manage security mechanisms and data access governance.

Build and execute tools to monitor and report on data quality.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

Degree in a STEM discipline.

Experience scripting in Python, R, Spark, and SQL.

Hands‑on experience with data warehouses/SQL and unstructured data.

Experience utilizing and developing within AWS services.

Basic Qualifications

Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelor’s Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or related) and at least 5 years of data‑analytics experience; or a Master’s Degree with at least 3 years of data‑analytics experience.

At least 3 years of experience with a scripting language.

At least 3 years of experience with a business‑intelligence visualization tool.

At least 3 years of experience querying, analyzing, and working with data languages and platforms.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in a STEM discipline.

At least 4 years of experience coding in Python, R, Spark, or SQL.

At least 4 years of experience with process‑management and improvement methodologies (Agile, Lean, Six Sigma, etc.).

At least 2 years of experience developing within AWS services.

At least 2 years of experience delivering data governance and data quality management concepts and practices within financial services.

At least 1 year of experience with Salesforce or marketing technology (MarTech) platforms.

This role is

Hybrid , with associates expected to spend up to three days per week in the office.

Compensation and Benefits Salary ranges (annual, base) for this role by location:

Richmond, VA: $115,900 – $132,200

Houston, TX: $115,900 – $132,200

This role is also eligible for performance‑based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives.
