ABOUT THE STREET VENDOR PROJECT The Street Vendor Project (SVP) is a membership-driven organization that champions the rights of street vendors as small businesses to earn a living and contribute to the culture and life of New York City. SVP envisions a New York City where street vendors thrive as essential entrepreneurs and anchors of community and culture in the five boroughs. Through direct leadership development, education, legal support, and strategic legislative advocacy, SVP builds power and community among vendors.

ABOUT THE POSITION SVP is looking for an

Outreach & Social Media Coordinator

to work with our Spanish‑Speaking Members for a part‑time, temporary position. We are seeking a new team member with experience working within multicultural, working class and immigrant communities.

QUALIFICATIONS

Relentlessly dedicated to building the power of working class, immigrant communities of color to incite transformative social and economic justice movement building.

A thoughtful communicator with excellent interpersonal, written, and public speaking skills.

A team‑player eager to collaborate with diverse, intergenerational, and multicultural stakeholders to achieve systemic change.

Fully bilingual in Spanish and English (spoken and written), and comfortable conducting outreach, workshops, counseling in Spanish.

Committed to and knowledgeable of SVP’s mission and movement building, and enthusiastic about nurturing leadership growth among members.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Coordinating and implementing membership recruitment activities and educational compliance checks including direct outreach on‑the‑street and through partner organizations.

Receiving vendors who come into the office during SVP drop‑in hours or conduct intake over the phone.

Identifying promising members to develop their interest and leadership in SVP through one‑on‑ones, phone banking, leadership trainings, and creating guides.

Maintaining database for tracking participation and development of members.

Coordinating one clean‑up day and one resource fair, in collaboration with SVP staff and community‑based organizations.

Creating and producing social media content that amplifies the stories of street vendors themselves, sheds light on the struggles and desires of small businesses, as well as a general sense of the work conducted at SVP.

Like most roles in a small organization, this role is flexible and the exact duties may contain other tasks and duties assigned by the supervisors based on the organization’s needs, such as translating, interpreting, data entry, social media, etc.

Hours and Compensation This position is a part‑time, temporary position, of 16 hours per week, with an ideal start date of October 15th, 2025, or as soon as possible through June 30th, 2026. The pay rate will be $25 per hour, to be paid bi‑monthly, subject to tax withholdings.
