Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (1) part-time (a maximum of 24 hours per week) Student Content Creator and Marketing Assistant for Biological & Ecological Engineering (BEE) at Oregon State University (OSU).
As a content creator for the BEE you will ideate, pitch and, create trending and trend-setting content for Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other social media platforms. Content will communicate our expertise, culture, and community to current and future students, alumni, industry partners, and other stakeholder within and external to Oregon State University. Our goal is to highlight the unique, first-in-the-world Ecological Engineering program and the student experience, with a particular goal of exciting future students in the program. This position offers an opportunity to grow as a STEM communicator, sharing both the student experience at OSU and BEE/EcoE major insider content.
Who we're looking for: A creative communicator who can take STEM content and make it engaging and playful Experience with filming and editing video for social media use Strong eye for design and composition Comfortable in front of and behind the camera Caring, creative, compassionate, collaborative individual Self-starter who will pitch us innovative ways to jump on trends or communicate complex info in fun ways What you'll do:
Tell the BEE/EcoE story by highlighting our passionate students and accomplished faculty Shoot and edit video using common editing tools like CapCut, Adobe Express, Canva, Edits, or other tools of your preference Leverage social media as a tool to achieve marketing team goals Learn to work from a brand strategy and function as an important member of the marketing team Grow engagement online Get future college students excited to choose BEE programs as their education destination Keep current EcoE and BEE students informed and excited about the latest updates from our department. Showcase our impact on the world through the power of STEM Use data insights to take our content to the next level, innovating and iterating to push growth and engagement Leave with a paid internship in STEM communication on your resume, an experience to leverage in myriad career options Transferable Skill Development
Position Duties
Create original Biological & Ecological Engineering content (e.g., videos, reels, photo carousels, etc.) on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, LinkedIn and any other social media platforms - share what life is like as a BEE/EcoE student! Work with the front office team to strategize and create content for social media Show up with big ideas and be ready to execute Review College and University social media to stay current on trends, events and ideas Curate and share content from other OSU accounts and Engineering-focused accounts Moderate the account, responding to comments and building an online community by commenting on our OSU sister accounts Organize and present content plans, calendars, analytics and areas for improvement Moderate all user-generated content in line with University and College policies and brand Capture and analyze appropriate social data/metrics, insights and best practices, and then act on that information to improve engagement Act in accordance with social media guidelines as you represent BEE Attend College of Engineering events tailored toward OUR students to gather content Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications

Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term* Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*
*International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered "full-time" by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the
Office of International Services
(OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.
Additional Required Qualifications
Majoring in Ecological Engineering or Biological & Ecological Engineering Self-motivation in project management and the ability to keep to schedules and meet deadlines. Clear verbal and written communication. Attention to detail Ability to use Microsoft Office suite. Experience communicating via social media, does not need to be STEM related. Preferred (Special) Qualifications
Media production course taken STEM communication experience Working Conditions / Work Schedule
