About The Role Our Video Distribution Engineer builds and maintains cutting‑edge compression and digital distribution platforms for one of the premier national broadcasters. You will have full permission to bring your best tech game to invent and build technology that delivers a high‑quality viewer experience to millions across networks, digital platforms, mobile applications, websites, and licensing partnerships. Responsibilities Acts as Tier 1 support for all on‑air broadcast systems. Follows standard operating procedures and documentation to support the operations team in a 24/7 environment. Builds and maintains compression & transport infrastructure. Conducts lab, performance, and system tests and prototype efforts that can continually evolve architecture and infrastructure. Supports the Media Control Center in day‑to‑day operations and assists users with technical issues or concerns. Partners with the Engineering, Standards & Advanced Technology teams to develop groundbreaking technology solutions for challenging business issues. Collaborates with engineering teams, operations teams, and third‑party vendors to develop long‑term strategy, product development, and implementation road maps. Uses data to make informed business decisions and improves efficiency and effectiveness of team performance. Analyzes dashboards and constantly optimizes system security and testing, minimizing bugs and making it to final products. Prioritizes the use of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) to motivate the team. Requirements Familiarity with on‑prem test and measurement platforms. Advanced maintenance of satellite and linear distribution, architecture deployment, monitoring, alerting, and/or data analysis. Expert knowledge of SDI video transport and new video codecs and compression (SRT, RTP, Zixi, HLS, etc.). Strong understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, OSI model, subnetting, VLANs, basic switch configuration. Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Engineering, IT, Computer Science or related tech field. Advanced knowledge of video compression and codecs, such as SMPTE ST‑2110, JPEG‑XS, HEVC. Compensation & Benefits The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future. We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave. Note: Pay is not considered compensation until it is earned, vested and determinable.
