We aim to inspire audiences worldwide with quality content that informs, educates and entertains while strengthening the BBC and its partners creatively and financially.
Job Purpose
BBC Studios' North America & Latin America licensed consumer products team seeks a Product Development Junior Designer to work closely with North America & Latin America teams, as well as with regional Licensing Sales, Retail Development, Operations, Legal, Global Product Development and Ethical Policy teams. You will manage product development for all hardline and softline partners in Latin America, the U.S. and Canada, supporting more than 100 partners to create and launch branded products for hit TV shows such as Bluey and Doctor Who.
Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities
Lead graphic design across Bluey softlines and hardlines, creating brand‑right assets—including patterns, packaging and product mockups—that drive innovation and align with global trends and brand strategies.
Develop bespoke brand assets to support regional licensing and global brand initiatives, ensuring cohesion across markets and categories.
Contribute to the creative direction of trend guide development, including mini style and seasonal kit tools, bringing fresh, relevant design ideas that reference established trend services.
Partner closely with North America and Latam product development, marketing and creative teams to ensure design alignment across all deliverables.
Provide high‑quality visual direction and design overlays, supporting day‑to‑day development with licensees and helping translate feedback into commercial design solutions.
Prepare and deliver production‑ready artwork files, offering hands‑on support through mockups, illustrations, repeatable patterns, packaging solutions and graphic assets for all licensing categories, while ensuring file organisation for accurate and efficient partner execution.
Support the product approval process (approx. 20% of the role) by reviewing submissions to confirm correct asset application and upholding brand standards—primarily for Bluey, with occasional support on other properties such as Doctor Who.
Support team coordinators processing inbound/outbound sample packages. Routinely organise and log sample inventory and record what is in our samples library so the team can provide accurate, quick‑turn sample requests for executives, events and other marketing and retail needs. Ensure onsite sample storage rooms are kept organised, neat and easily accessible.
Ensure all products follow BBCS’ design requirements through adherence to style guides and rights‑owner feedback, confirming that all necessary Legal, Ethical Policy, Sustainability and Brand Protection requirements are featured on products and packaging.
Support Marketing, Licensing Sales and Retail Development teams as needed by creating presentation‑ready trend/inspiration boards and product development boards. Research & report on wider industry trends as needed, providing print‑ready artwork files for retail opportunities, marketing events and digital assets.
Update internal kick off guides, mini guides and tool kits to align with global brand themes, brand updates and new partner onboarding. Gather research for new licensees to service category rights, including relevant competitor research.
