Strategic Grant Writer Job at 4 HORSEMEN REHABILITATION SERVICES INC in Atlanta
4 HORSEMEN REHABILITATION SERVICES INC, Atlanta, GA, US, 30383
At 4Horsemen Rehabilitation Services Inc., we want to create a strong, strategic, and sustainable grant development foundation that supports our long-term growth and expands our impact across Georgia. A skilled strategic volunteer will help us refine our grant writing process, strengthen our core case statements, and build a grants calendar that aligns with our programs and expansion plans. This project will ultimately support our mission to reduce recidivism by equipping formerly incarcerated individuals with the tools, training, and support needed to rebuild their lives.
We’re seeking a strategic volunteer to assist with a focused grant development project that includes:
1. Grant Prospect Research
a) Identify 10-15 grant opportunities that align with our mission, programs (TAP, KIWAP, and Front Line), and population (justice-involved adults in Georgia).
b) Prioritize opportunities based on eligibility, timeline, and funding potential.
2. Core Grant Narrative Development
a) Review and refine our existing language used for proposals, LOIs, and capability statements.
b) Help us craft modular content blocks (e.g., organizational overview, program descriptions, impact data, leadership bios) that can be reused in multiple applications.
c) Ensure our story is compelling, clear, and measurable.
3. Build a Grant Calendar & Toolkit
a) Help us develop a basic grant calendar to track deadlines, key contacts, and submission timelines.
b) Assist in organizing a toolkit that includes standard attachments like IRS letter, budget templates, board list, and logic model.
4. Possible Assist in submitting 1-2 Grant Applications
a) Depending on timing and volunteer availability, help draft or edit 1-2 actual grant applications or letters of inquiry during the project period.
We anticipate this project taking approximately 4-6 weeks, with weekly check-ins and clear deliverables. The volunteer would work closely with our Executive Director and Program Director, and we’re open to collaborating via Google Docs, Zoom, or any platform the volunteer prefers.
We are excited to work with a skilled professional who can bring clarity, structure, and strategy to our grants process-and leave us with tools we can continue to use long after the project ends.
At 4Horsemen Rehabilitation Services Inc., our mission is to walk alongside formerly incarcerated individuals as they rebuild their lives-with dignity, direction, and the tools for long-term success. Every class we teach, every mentoring session we lead, and every opportunity we provide is aimed at one thing: reducing recidivism by investing in human potential.
This grant development project will directly strengthen our ability to do that.
Right now, we’re scaling our flagship TAP (Transition Assistance Process) program across Georgia-bringing proven tools for personal development, workforce readiness, and mindset growth to people who’ve often been written off by society. But doing this work takes more than passion-it takes funding, planning, and strategy.
That’s where you come in.
By helping us build out a sustainable grant-writing system-including compelling narratives, a targeted prospect list, and reusable templates-you’ll be laying the financial foundation for programs that transform lives. Your support will help us:
- Serve more justice-involved individuals with leadership, career, and life skills
- Launch two additional programs (KIWAP and Front Line) that support families and veterans
- Reach new funders who can invest in long-term solutions to incarceration
Your time and talent will ripple far beyond a document or spreadsheet. You’ll be contributing to second chances, to healing, and to hope. You’ll be helping someone’s father, sister, son, or friend return to the community with purpose and a plan-not just a record.
This isn’t just a grant project. It’s a chance to help rewrite someone’s story.
At 4Horsemen Rehabilitation Services Inc., we’re committed to making the most of this opportunity and have taken several concrete steps to ensure this grant development project is set up for success-for both our organization and our strategic volunteer partner.
1. Strong Internal Commitment:
We’ve completed a successful rollout of our flagship program, the Transition Assistance Process (TAP), and are now focused on building the operational infrastructure that will support the future expansion of our other programs, KIWAP and Front Line. Our leadership team-Executive Director, Program Director, and Lead Coach/Mentor-is aligned and ready to fully engage in this project. We have a dedicated point of contact who will ensure prompt communication, schedule consistency, and timely delivery of requested information.
2. Learning-Focused, Ready to Collaborate:
We are actively learning how to better use the data we already collect and are eager for guidance on what metrics funders care about most and how to best present them. While we don’t currently have a formal grants calendar or case studies developed, we have a strong foundation of program materials, client feedback, and impact narratives that can be shaped into effective content with the support of our volunteer. We are open, coachable, and ready to grow.
3. History of Successful Volunteer Partnerships:
This will be our fifth high priority engagement, and we’ve successfully integrated the outcomes of four prior projects into our daily operations-from branding to program documentation. Several past volunteers have even stayed on with us as long-term volunteers, which we believe speaks to our positive, respectful, and productive working style. We take implementation seriously and value every contribution.
4. Sustainable Vision for This Project:
This grant development project is not a one-off effort-it’s part of our broader goal to establish a sustainable and replicable funding strategy. We want to co-create templates, language, and systems that we can continue using and refining long after the engagement ends. We’re prepared to take ownership of next steps, and your contribution will directly shape the growth of a community-based solution to mass incarceration.
We’re excited to partner with a skilled strategic volunteer and look forward to collaborating in a way that’s impactful, respectful of your time, and driven by a shared purpose.
