Position Overview Collections Strategist Librarian – Inside Higher Ed (non‑tenure, permanent)
Reports to the Head, Technical Services. The role leads the development, management, and stewardship of UNC Greensboro’s library collections, including central and electronic resources, and oversees a $3.5 million annual budget.
Key Responsibilities Manage central collection development funds and one‑time funding up to $1 million.
Administer selection and renewal of electronic and additional collections resources, collaborating with the Collection Management Team.
Develop and implement collection development strategies, budget planning, and resource‑access activities.
Lead vendor negotiations, licensing reviews, and access facilitation for licensed content.
Pilot and assess new collection approaches, integrating trends in scholarly publishing and open access.
Engage in and support consortial partnerships.
Incorporate data‑driven assessment methodologies to evaluate collection performance.
Compile, analyze, and disseminate usage and cost data to ensure efficient budget use.
Produce interpretive reports and data visualizations to communicate collection development outcomes.
Prepare and present information to library groups to inform collection decisions.
Provide leadership for collections space planning and support for faculty and department budgets.
Serve on the Collection Management Team.
Supervise and develop one full‑time librarian and one support staff member.
Minimum Qualifications ALA‑accredited master’s degree or comparable graduate degree.
At least 3 years of professional experience in building and managing library collections in physical and digital formats, including fund management.
Evidence of data‑informed strategy implementation.
Experience working with library consortia.
Independent and collaborative project planning, coordination, and execution.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong organization, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to align collection strategy with local priorities.
Knowledge of emerging practices, standards, and trends in academic library collection development and management.
Skill in reading, interpreting, and negotiating license agreements.
Demonstrated success in managing staff and operations creatively.
Application Details Salary: $68,000 – $75,000. Full‑time, 1.00 FTE, Exempt (FLSA).
