Job Summary / Description WMTV 15 News needs an immediate opening for a News and Digital Content Producer to elevate Madison’s #1 morning newscast. The producer will create, coordinate, and showcase content on television and online. Cross‑training for all digital platforms—website, social media, news apps, OTT—is required. The ideal candidate is an innovator who combines big‑picture thinking with meticulous attention to detail, writes conversationally for TV and follows AP Style for digital. Duties / Responsibilities Work closely with the News Director, Assistant News Director, and Executive Producer to implement WMTV’s digital‑first strategy across all platforms. Act with urgency, researching and writing copy daily; share stories on television, WMTV15News.com, and social media. Identify live‑stream opportunities on the website, bring user‑generated content to TV newscasts, and send push alerts to extend reach. Ensure story selection and placement meet journalistic and editorial standards and fit WMTV’s brand pillars. Understand the DMA, key target audiences, and where they live. Produce engaging, error‑free work with extreme attention to detail. Collaborate professionally and respectfully with colleagues to enhance viewer experience and content quality. Qualifications / Requirements College degree in journalism or related field, or one or more years of newsroom/digital producing experience. Positive attitude, desire to win, and ability to reflect on work and apply feedback. Strong research skills and critical thinking, digging beyond press releases and confirming news tips via email or social media. Excellent time‑management; able to work quickly while maintaining accuracy, multitasking, and composure under deadline pressure and breaking news. Established presence on digital platforms, including social media. Working knowledge of CMS and digital platforms (ARC, Social News Desk, CrowdTangle); Photoshop experience is a plus. Strict adherence to AP Style. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Flexibility to work different hours and shifts, including covering coworkers’ time off and assisting in breaking news coverage.
