Part Time Faculty Interest Pool – Communication Studies

Portland Community College is the largest post‑secondary institution in Oregon, serving ~80,000 students across four campuses. We are building an inclusive community and commit to equity and inclusion.

This posting is for a Part‑Time Faculty Interest Pool in Communication Studies. Applicants will be considered for substitute and full‑term assignments as needed during the academic year. The pool is not a specific open position.

Eligibility & Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Speech Communication, Communication, or Communication Studies (or equivalent).
• Or interdisciplinary degrees with a minimum of 30 graduate credits in Speech Communication.
• Or any related Speech Communication Master’s degree (e.g., Telecommunications or Mass Communication).

Responsibilities

Teach assigned courses, including lectures, labs, and lecture/lab combinations. Provide instructional support, course assessment, and service as required by the department. Participate in faculty meetings and professional development when requested.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rates based on course type (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
• Starting at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.
• Part‑time faculty may be eligible for Oregon Sick Leave and retirement savings plans.
