Activity Therapist‑PT (Music)
Join our team at Acadia Healthcare‑River Place Behavioral Health as a PT‑Activity Therapist. We are looking for a positive, empathetic and passionate individual dedicated to making a difference in the lives of patients through compassionate therapeutic practices while working in a supportive team environment.
As an Activity Therapist you will participate in the development and implementation of patients’ treatment plans by:
- Completing activity assessments through patient observation and patient/family interview, obtaining information on the patient’s needs, skills, interests and limitations to develop and implement treatment plans.
- Planning, organizing, directing and implementing activities within the treatment program to facilitate patient progress toward treatment goals.
- Planning and implementing an activities program including therapeutic leisure skills, leisure education, and leisure awareness.
- Facilitating and leading activity sessions to improve patient mental and physical well‑being.
- Instructing patients in activities and techniques such as sports, dance, music, art or relaxation techniques designed to meet their specific needs.
- Developing treatment plans and implementing activity interventions that meet patient needs and help patients achieve their treatment goals.
- Engaging patients in therapeutic activities such as exercise, games and community outings.
- Assisting patients in learning social skills needed to become or remain independent.
- Modifying activities to suit the needs of specific groups.
- Demonstrating a positive, empathetic and professional attitude toward patients, addressing complaints, and prioritizing patient safety.
Education/Experience/Skill Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreational Therapy or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Three or more years of recreation experience in a healthcare setting with knowledge of the patient population served.
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or certification in an expressive therapy area (Art, Dance, Music, etc.) or clinical professional licensure (LCPC, LPC, etc.) required.
