Student Assistant – Photography Lab at University of West Georgia (UWG)
Job Summary
The Department of Art, History, and Philosophy Photography Area is seeking a Photography Lab Assistant to assist the photography program by supporting students and faculty, facilitating a productive, safe, and friendly work environment in the digital print lab. The schedule will be determined upon consultation and agreement with the Photography Faculty with the possibility of evening and/or weekend shifts.
Responsibilities
- Monitoring the photography area facilities.
- Provide assistance in the Digital Lab to students, faculty, staff, and guests.
- Maintain a level of security in designated areas and maintain a clean work environment.
- Assist with enforcing department policies and procedures.
- Attend workshops and trainings as required.
- Collaborate with AHP staff on projects as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned, depending on specific functional area.
Required Qualifications
- Must have a Federal Work Study award.
- Must be currently enrolled a minimum of six credit hours at the University of West Georgia.
- Must be in good academic standing and maintain good standing for the duration of employment.
- Must have a cumulative 2.0 grade‑point average.
- Must be in good conduct standing with the Department of Art, History, and Philosophy and maintain good conduct for the duration of employment.
- Must be proficient in Apple Mac OS, Adobe Photoshop, and Epson Printing Systems.
- Capable of light lifting and cleaning.
- Excellent organizational, time‑management, and multi‑tasking skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Willingness to learn new skills.
- Ability to work as a member of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to work with people from multicultural populations.
- Experience working in a photographic darkroom.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry files and materials.
- Ability to move from one office to another office on campus.
- Adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to interact with people in person, on the phone, and in writing.
- Job takes place in normal environmental conditions.
