Staff Product Designer, UI Infrastructure
Join to apply for the Staff Product Designer, UI Infrastructure role at DoorDash.
This is one of the most technically ambitious design roles at DoorDash. You’ll help define how intelligent systems power the next generation of product design - shaping workflows that thousands of designers, engineers, and merchants rely on every day.
About The Team
This role sits within the Design Systems team, part of Design Foundations: the group that builds the tokens, components, patterns, and tools that power how we design and build high quality products at scale. We partner closely with our engineering counterparts in Design Infrastructure to make building great products faster, more consistent, and increasingly intelligent. You’ll join a team driving a new frontier: LLM‑powered, code‑integrated design systems that redefine how designers build, evaluate, and scale product experiences globally.
About The Role
We’re looking for a Staff Product Designer to help redefine how design and engineering work together at DoorDash. In this role, you’ll shape the next generation of intelligent UI infrastructure – developing the workflows, frameworks, and AI‑powered tools that transform how design scales across our global platform. You’ll bridge the gap between Figma and code, creating smoother handoffs, smarter automation, and a more cohesive design‑to‑engineering ecosystem. Your work will make it easier for designers to craft efficiently, prototype confidently, and ship with precision. You’ll partner with Design Infrastructure and platform teams to explore how intelligent tooling and LLM‑powered workflows can unlock new levels of efficiency, quality, and creativity. This is a hands‑on, high‑impact role at the intersection of craft and code. You’ll move seamlessly between design and implementation, contribute to shared repositories, and mentor your design peers to grow their technical fluency. You’ll report to the Head of Design Systems within Design Foundations in a hybrid capacity, with one in‑office day per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Shape the strategic direction and long‑term vision for intelligent design systems by defining how AI, design, and code come together to power every DoorDash experience.
- Lead LLM integration in design workflows to define how generative tools empower designers to ship and evaluate code changes independently.
- Prototype and test AI‑assisted workflows that automate component creation, documentation, and evaluation to accelerate how we build and measure quality at scale.
- Partner with engineering to build MCP‑based design governance that centralizes design assets such as colors, icons, and principles, and versions them like code for reliability and traceability.
- Drive system adaptability across brands and markets by enabling white‑label and themeable experiences that extend from our internal design systems to our global merchant ecosystem.
- Design and build the connective tissue between design (Figma) and engineering to streamline the designer‑developer handoff and elevate velocity, consistency, and craft.
- Champion craft, accessibility, and inclusive design so that every component, motion, and interaction feels intentional and human.
We’re Excited About You Because
- You’re a seasoned designer with 7+ years of experience in design who leads through systems thinking, technical fluency, and craft excellence.
- You influence across design, engineering, and product, driving alignment on shared infrastructure and scalable patterns.
- You elevate the quality of collaboration, setting a high bar for clarity, execution, and partnership.
- You can navigate and drive complex architectural changes, balancing scalability with usability and brand integrity.
- You have a proven mentorship track record, share your process openly, and help teams build confidence in technical and systems‑based design.
- You sweat the details, ensuring every component, motion, and interaction feels intentional and refined.
