About the Organization:
The Eau Claire Express begins its 21st year in the summer collegiate Northwoods League. The Northwoods League comprises teams of the top college players from across North America. Each team is operated similarly to a professional minor league team, providing development opportunities to players, front office staff members, interns, and coaches. In addition, the Express operates similarly to other Northwoods League teams, as their players use wooden bats, experience long road trips and overnight stays, and play nightly in front of thousands of fans. The Eau Claire Express plays at Carson Park, located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
The duties of the Media Relations intern include any or all of the following: Game Statistics & Scoring
Serve as the official statistician for all Express home games Set up, operate, and manage official scoring software Update and maintain accurate rosters, statistics, and records throughout the season
Website Management & Written Content
Write a game recap after each Express game
Communicate with marketing interns regarding upcoming giveaways and promote in recap stories
Add to/remove any roster changes Update Express team and individual records throughout the season Conduct weekly interviews with Express player/coaches Assist with updates to the promotions page Post NWL press releases to the website Make any necessary changes in layout and design
Content Creation & Collaboration
Assist with pre-season media day as assigned Coordinate with marketing interns to highlight upcoming giveaways and integrate them into game recaps Collect and distribute player headshots to the NWL Work with the Graphic Design and Photography intern to update the gameday program Update rosters, statistics, and other content for each game
Other Duties
Help with stadium setup and takedown for all home games Assist the Express front office with ticket sales efforts Provide general office and administrative support as needed Assist with everyday office duties and other duties as assigned
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Preferably pursuing a degree in Business, Communications, Sports Management, or Marketing Strong written and verbal communication skills Developed interpersonal skills Ability to work well under pressure Self-motivated individual with the ability to multitask Experience with scoring sporting events
