Responsibilities
We’re seeking a detail-oriented HVAC Design and Estimator to join our growing team. In this role, you’ll design heating and cooling systems, perform load calculations, and prepare accurate cost estimates for residential homes and small commercial projects. The ideal candidate has both technical design knowledge and practical field experience to produce efficient, buildable solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Design residential and light commercial HVAC systems using current industry standards and local building codes.
Perform load calculations and equipment selections for heat pumps, furnaces, air conditioners, and ventilation systems.
Prepare detailed material takeoffs, labor estimates, and complete project proposals.
Create duct layouts and system schematics using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar design tools.
Communicate with homeowners, contractors, and builders to clarify scope and design intent.
Source pricing from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure accurate and competitive bids.
Support field teams with technical drawings, documentation, and project handoff.
Stay current with new HVAC technologies, code changes, and energy-efficiency standards.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Design, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Minimum 2–5 years of experience in residential or light commercial HVAC design and estimating.
Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., Wrightsoft, Elite, or similar) and Microsoft Office.
Understanding of Manual J, S, and D calculations and local mechanical codes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet bid deadlines.
Skills
Hands-on field experience in HVAC installation or service.
Familiarity with design-build and retrofit projects.
Experience with energy modeling or green building standards.
Knowledge of estimating software (e.g., FastPIPE, Trimble, or equivalent).
NATE certification or HVAC trade license a plus.
