Position Purpose
As a Content Development Strategist, you will play a crucial role in collaborating with product management stakeholders to formulate and implement high-level, impactful strategies based on analytics and market data. This position focuses on developing a robust content strategy by understanding target audiences, analyzing competitive trends, and leading cross-functional teams to make informed content decisions. You will drive the conversion and release of products, ensuring timely delivery of quality content.
This role specifically supports content strategy for eBooks within the Gale K12 team.
Your Responsibilities
Gale K12 Content
Collaborate closely with Product Management, Usage and Analytics, and User Experience teams to develop key metrics for assessing user engagement; create dashboards and reports for product stakeholders to evaluate content program success.
Engage actively in new product development initiatives; brainstorm current and future content topics, and identify product-specific opportunities to drive sales.
Work in partnership with content strategists, instructional designers, curriculum experts, technology, and marketing teams to ensure the successful launch and effective positioning of new products in the marketplace.
Support the development of supplemental curriculum and database products through comprehensive content strategy.
Provide high-level troubleshooting consultation for assigned products and across various programs.
eBooks
Oversee the entire eBook lifecycle, including curation, licensing, conversion, launch, and retiring of products, in collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors.
Curate content to align with curriculum standards and topical collections; collaborate with Marketing and Sales to ensure the curated collections meet customer and institutional needs.
Regularly evaluate collections to ensure relevance, quality, and adherence to academic standards.
Monitor industry trends and analyze competitor products/services; make recommendations based on findings and user feedback.
Develop strategic plans for various timeframes in collaboration with Product Managers, coordinating with other teams as necessary.
Identify workflow improvements and data-gathering methodologies to enhance efficiency and support data-driven decision-making.
Required Skills
Bachelor's degree or equivalent recent work experience.
Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in digital publishing, content development, or a similar field.
Proven success in designing and implementing effective content strategies for digital information products.
Strong project management skills with experience in managing complex workflows.
Excellent analytical abilities to interpret data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with the ability to convey information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide constructive feedback and demonstrate a problem-solving approach.
Self-motivated and accountable, with a natural curiosity and eagerness for continuous learning and improvement.
In-depth knowledge of digital information products; subject matter expertise or the ability to quickly acquire it.
Desirable Qualities
Familiarity with Cengage Learning products and the K12 market.
Experience with eBook platforms and digital content workflows.
Background in subject areas such as Science or Library Science.

Compensation
Our Total Rewards package is designed to empower and support our employees. The salary range for this position is $67,000.00 - $87,100.00 USD, depending on various factors including experience, internal equity, and geographic location.
