Technical Designer (Apparel) – Torrance, CA

Job Summary:

Become the newest member of the family. Civil Clothing Inc. in Torrance is seeking a candidate with a strong skill set in garment tech design. The ideal candidate should have experience in patternmaking and grading, garment construction, and sewing with a clothing manufacturing background specifically in private label and full package. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Create tech packs with illustrations, full specs, and garment construction from new development to production styles in many categories such as Men’s and Women’s streetwear, swim, activewear, kids, athleisure, and outerwear. Issue graded measurements and grading rules to the factory. Oversee all fit, PP, and TOP samples with ownership of TNA and WIP for tracking. Daily communications with offshore factories and internal cross‑functional members to ensure all sample deadlines and production deliveries are met. Evaluate and measure all incoming samples in a timely manner and send fit comments to the vendors. Build and maintain a technical data library. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Patternmaking, garment construction with sewing knowledge, grading and grading rules. Strong knowledge of garment life cycle; experience in private label and full package business. Knowledge and familiarity in garment specs, bill of materials, and garment process (silkscreen, fabric printing, washes, etc.). Troubleshoot and work independently with cross‑functional team members to problem solve any tech and fit issues. Ability to multitask in a fast‑pace environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication, attention to detail, and exceptional organizational and follow‑up skills. Work well with cross‑functional team members to facilitate daily tasks. Education and Experience: AA or BA degree in Fashion Design required. Minimum 3+ years’ experience in apparel manufacturing or production related experience. Intermediate computer drawing skills for technical and construction detail sketches & related art using Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
