Associate Director, Community Communications Lead

The Associate Director, Community Communication Lead is a new role that combines several capabilities including communications, advocacy and community engagement. The successful candidate will build on Ipsen’s growing reputation in the U.S. market by driving collaborative interactions. This is an excellent role for an individual who is passionate about patient experience and able to translate insights across our business to enable outside‑in counsel to the leaders charged with advancing and protecting our business. This role is a great opportunity for someone skilled at thinking through scenarios, working with urgency, thinking creatively and compliantly and is energized by managing various points of view and motivations. Excellent executive presence, sound judgment, leadership skills and clear and concise verbal and written communications are a must. This position reports to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs in North America.
What - Main Responsibilities & Competencies
Lead appropriate interactions with patients opted in to the company’s ambassador program—a platform for experience storytelling (includes representing Ipsen externally, managing interactions compliantly and ensuring relevant content)
Manage a coordinated approach with the patient community and Ipsen—leading with both empathy and a full understanding of the company’s role in the health ecosystem (includes proactive and reactive outreach, leading with transparency and listening to learn)
Chair the charitable giving and employee match programs in the United States, with cross functional partners, following program criteria
Develop strategic programs to engage and empower audiences through thought leadership and partner programs with the Corporate Affairs team
Fully execute the requirements of the company’s volunteer program in North America
Facilitate the development of materials, including internal review processes. Knowledge of industry norms for material reviews is a must
Work cross-functionally to grow and refine Ipsen’s reputation in North America as it relates to stakeholder engagement
Liaise and partner with U.S. business units and global colleagues across Corporate Affairs
How - Knowledge & Experience
Minimum 10 years’ experience with external communications; biotech/pharmaceutical product public relations background required
Minimum 3 years’ experience working with patient advocacy organizations
Past experience in integrated marketing communications and the ability to work with multiple stakeholders, including PAOs
Ability to prioritize and execute plans with creativity and compassion
Excellent writing skills in all formats—business communication and social media—and able to construct and produce visual content
Understanding of regulatory and compliance environments in the United States
Individual should be a self‑starter, detail‑oriented, demonstrate strong self‑awareness and have a proven track record of strong collaboration
Education / Certifications (essential)
Bachelor’s degree is required; journalism or communications‑related discipline preferred
MBA or advanced degree is a plus, but not required
The annual base salary range for this position is $143,250 - $210,100.
