About the Position Living on campus enhances the Fullerton experience by strengthening personal growth and academic success. As a member of a living and learning community you will develop leadership skills, attend educational, cultural, and social programs, and interact closely with faculty and university staff. Fullerton currently provides residence hall and apartment‑style living for ~2,200 students that is safe, clean, and convenient. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as Marketing and Communication Specialist II (Marketing Communications Professional II). The ideal candidate is positive, energetic, ethical, and committed to inclusivity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the direction of the Executive Director and Housing and Residential Engagement (HRE) Management Personnel Plans (MPPs), the Marketing and Communications Specialist II develops and implements communication, public‑affairs, and marketing programs; outreach and engagement initiatives promoting housing, dining, and residential engagement. These initiatives include website management, social‑media scheduling, marketing and communications promotional materials, student hiring and oversight, workshops, training programs, events, and participation on department committees. The Specialist II oversees HRE publications (print and digital) and supervises graduate and undergraduate students on the Marketing Outreach and Communications team. Supports collaborations with campus partners and student organizations addressing housing operations and residential engagement. Other duties as assigned.

Essential Qualifications Equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in a related field and two years of relevant experience. Additional experience demonstrating acquired and successfully applied knowledge of the marketing and communications field may substitute for the required education on a year‑for‑year basis. An advanced degree may substitute for required experience on a year‑for‑year basis.

Under general supervision creates engaging content and implements marketing campaigns, communication plans, and initiatives. Applies professional level knowledge of the marketing and/or communications fields, including a specialty area. Collaborates with stakeholders to enhance the university’s brand image, promote programs, achievements, and engage internal and external audiences. Works independently on most day‑to‑day assignments with general supervision on new projects to ensure alignment with objectives. Handles multiple work priorities and is accountable for own work results. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment.

Working knowledge of marketing communications, public relations, branding, and related disciplines. Working knowledge of protocols and institutional etiquette related to public and media relations. Working knowledge of copyright and other applicable laws pertaining to publications and media. Skilled in developing and implementing marketing and/or communications strategies and campaigns. Strong project planning and organizational skills to manage multiple marketing projects. Strong composition and editing skills to quickly produce clear and concise documents for internal and external publication.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills to create and deliver marketing initiatives and campaigns, provide lead work direction and training to others. Proficiency in using communication and marketing software and tools.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information or if falsified information is disclosed. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications Experience in photography. Knowledge of campus and community resources for students. Experience supervising students, interns, or volunteers. Forward‑thinking approach to marketing and communications. Proficiency with standard office equipment and software (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook). Work independently and effectively as part of a team; exercise tact, discretion, good judgment, handle sensitive and confidential information, establish and maintain working relationships. Strong computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases. Knowledge and experience with social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, etc.) and creative design programs/software (Canvas, Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, etc.).

License / Certifications A valid California driver’s license.
