Design Build Manager
The Design Build Manager is responsible for leading the design-build process and managing all coordination between design and construction teams. This individual must be highly proactive and detail-driven—always knowing the status of design decisions before they reach the owner for approval. Once an owner signs off, changes become costly and complex. Your job is to identify and address issues early, ensuring alignment across teams, compliance with DDC standards, and smooth execution from start to finish.
You will act as the central point of communication between architects, consultants, contractors, and city agencies, ensuring that design and construction progress remains coordinated, cost-effective, and aligned with project goals.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage design-build projects from preconstruction through final completion
Oversee and coordinate all design activities, ensuring alignment with project scope and constructability
Stay ahead of architects and design consultants—review plans and drawings before they are presented to or approved by the owner
Identify constructability issues, conflicts, or cost impacts early in the design process
Track and enforce design deliverables, timelines, and compliance with DDC submission requirements
Interface with DDC representatives and ensure adherence to agency processes and standards
Manage and track design-related RFIs, change orders, and value engineering efforts
Ensure all stakeholders are aligned and informed—owners, designers, consultants, and contractors
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes, agency standards, and permitting requirements
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in construction management or design-build project delivery
Strong understanding of DDC submission requirements, workflows, and approval processes
Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings
Demonstrated ability to proactively manage design risks and resolve issues before escalation
