Part‑time: Approx. 12.5 hours per week. This is a 10 ½ month position with July and the first part of August off. Salary can be prorated over 12 months. Salary Range: $22.83 – $27.93 Employment Status: Part‑time employee – to be compensated monthly. No benefits. Overview The Music Director is responsible for creating, cultivating and directing an inspiring music program that supports the NUUC Mission and Vision. Responsibilities Collaborates with Senior Minister/worship leaders to integrate music in Sunday worship services Selects appropriate hymns and other songs/music in consultation with the minister/worship leaders for Sunday services Chooses, orders, prepares choral music for Adult NUUC Choir Recruits, conducts and plans schedule for Adult NUUC Choir Provides piano/musical accompaniment for Sunday services, including planning for Associate Pianist/alternate musicians when unavailable Supervises, communicates and works in collaboration with Associate Pianist for choral scheduling, Sunday Service schedule and musical support Supports and develops vibrant congregational music‑making through song leading and teaching of new music Arranges for guest musicians as appropriate with an emphasis on diversity on musical styles Meets regularly as an ex‑officio member of the Music Ministry in support of the musical life of the church Meets regularly with Senior Minister in support of the musical life of the church Works with Music Ministry and Senior Minister and COSM to establish and maintain annual music budget Submits monthly newsletter article highlighting music in the church, upcoming musical events, etc. Maintains choral library and oversees use of congregation‑owned musical instruments Schedules piano tunings 2‑3 times annually Establishes/Maintains contact with musical colleagues via AUUMM and other interfaith organizations Job Qualifications Demonstrate appropriate skills as conductor and song leader, exhibiting comfort dealing with singers of all musical ability with grace and encouragement Demonstrate appropriate skills as a pianist/musician in regard to accompanying hymns or providing special music for services Experience leading, planning for and managing a choir Lead with professionalism, modeling respect for others with appropriate boundaries and maintaining confidentiality Ability to listen and communicate effectively with staff, congregants and guests Demonstrate organization and show initiative in leadership skills Willingness to learn and grow as a musician, exploring diverse music and become familiar with UU hymnody Function effectively as a team member, working collaboratively with volunteers and supporting a shared vision of the community #J-18808-Ljbffr
