Associate Director of Social Media and Digital Content

Title of Position: Associate Director of Social Media and Digital Content
Reporting to the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives in Development and University Relations (DAUR), the Associate Director of Social Media and Digital Content manages the Office of Alumni Relations social media platforms and digital content, helping to strengthen the Fordham community and bring awareness to the University. This position requires occasional weekend and evening work and possible travel.
Essential Functions
- Manages social media platforms and digital content for the Office of Alumni Relations, helping to strengthen the Fordham alumni community, increasing University awareness, and ensuring strategic content and important news are shared in a timely manner and in tandem with the enterprise social media team.
- Collaborates with the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives to build a comprehensive social media strategy and to identify, plan, create, and execute effective content for alumni-focused channels; stays abreast of social media trends and audience engagement; develops on-trend campaigns for social media platforms.
- Collaborates with colleagues across the University on digital content marketing initiatives. Creates and coordinates complementary content with other University departments.
- Maintains a calendar of strategic social media content and messaging for all platforms, creates and schedules posts using scheduling software, and monitors and engages with the alumni online community, responding to comments and messages as necessary.
- Engages in daily social listening, keeping the Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives advised of issues important to Fordham alumni and the University that emerge in social media.
- Tracks and reports the performance of all digital content, including social media, email, and website. Monitors, analyzes, and reports on social media analytics and submits reports weekly and monthly; adapts strategy based on performance.
- Creates and executes creative social media strategies for University events. Attends events on and off campus and captures and edits content (photos and video) as needed for social media platforms.
- Manages and updates website content on a regular basis. Acts as a key partner in the Fordham alumni website redesign project.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree.
- Minimum of four years of experience working with social media and digital platforms. Proven track record of developing and implementing successful social media strategies that align with organizational objectives, voice, and brand, and lead to growth in follower count and engagement.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
- An understanding of the social media space; knowledge of current trends and best practices for digital platforms and content. Proven track record and expertise in applying social media trends to inform the development of viral content.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, data analytics, and tools (e.g., Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Threads), and experience using social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social).
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally; strong writing skills with proven copywriting ability for online platforms.
- Highly attentive to detail and demonstrates excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Skilled in teamwork and navigating dynamic, competing priorities.
- Works effectively with a range of working styles.
- Willingness to learn new tools/applications as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of Canva, Adobe Cloud or similar design and video production tools & techniques.
- Experience with CRM software and content management systems.
- Experience working with email marketing platforms (e.g., MailChimp, Marketing Cloud) and project management tools (e.g., Monday).
- Experience with website design and content.
- Experience working with metrics and analytics.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and comfort in adopting new digital tools.
- Highly creative with experience in devising digital content that engages, informs, and motivates diverse audiences.
- Experience working in a large institution and with cross-functional teams.
Compensation
Minimum Starting Salary: $80,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $90,000

Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
