Introduction

Rivet Operations Company ("Rivet") has an opening for a Graphic Artist / Illustrator to join our rapidly growing team in the Panama City, Florida area. This position will support the Naval Surface Warfare Center, providing corporate communications support. Rivet is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in cyber security, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement, and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conception, planning, preparation, and creation of visual materials such as concept renderings, illustrations, publications, logos, diagrams, displays, graphics, objects used in books, magazines, pamphlets, exhibits, posters, presentations, live or video recorded speeches or conferences and other means of communication.
  • Produce complex computer-generated and traditionally created illustrations and artwork to include perspective renderings, requiring precision hand-eye coordination to draw images by hand and on computer tablets.
  • Use visual elements to communicate messages through print and electronic media.
  • Produce a full range of graphic and visual presentation products and services that meet customer requirements utilizing a variety of electronic and multimedia processes and techniques.
  • Plan, design and execute graphics products that are effective for the medium being used and convey the customer's message.
  • Select, acquire, scan, edit and format visual material for publications in print and other media using a variety of software tools.
  • Research customer needs personally and/or through meetings.
  • Make initial artistic decisions for color schemes, lighting, size and placement of material to be presented.
  • Prepare materials, such as photographs, illustrations, charts and legends.
  • Utilize mainstream computer graphics, video editing, and publication software to include MS Office, CorelDRAW, Adobe Creative Suite, Corel Painter, etc. to produce visual information products. Additional skill sets such as three-dimensional (3‑D) modeling and animation applications are desirable but not required.
  • Dry-mount, matte, and frame images and posters as needed.
  • Required to work in both MS Windows and MAC environments.

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Certifications

  • Must have an associate degree or equivalent education in Fine Arts or Commercial Arts with 5 years of related full‑time work experience in graphic arts or technical illustration.
  • Demonstrated experience of producing artist concept renderings, technical illustrations, and graphic designs.
  • Skilled in determining composition, design, and appropriate media to be used in order to depict a broad range of technical concepts in support of scientific and engineering customers.
  • Position requires the submission of a portfolio demonstrating proof of talent and skills within this discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience selecting and working with various forms of art media, from traditional pen and ink, acrylics, oils, and watercolors to modern digital tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Corel Painter, and Microsoft Office, as well as various other graphics‑related applications.
  • Experience using scanners, tablets, large‑format printers, photo printers, and color copies.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem‑solving skills.
  • Strong verbal communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals.

Physical Requirements

Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Possible lifting up to 25 lbs.

Salary Range

Minimum $23.45 an hour to maximum $28.05 an hour. (USD $23.45 – $28.05 per year).
