AUDIO VISUAL TECHNICIAN

Location: Waveguide On Call - 1680 Capital One Drive, Mclean, DC 22102.

Schedule: On‑call sessions; days and hours vary as needed.

Requirement: Two years of audio‑visual support experience preferred but not required. Internal employee referral bonus available.

Pay Range: $20.00 to $40.00 per hour.

Applications accepted on an ongoing basis until all openings are filled. Candidates who are not selected may be considered for future opportunities.

Job Summary

Ensures that all audio‑visual requirements requested by clients are met and interfaces with various types of audio‑visual, communication, and presentation technology. Responsible for maintaining positive customer relationships and ensuring timely responses to all inquiries for space or service needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews customer and meeting‑planner requests from the reservation system and provides necessary equipment and assistance.
  • Gathers information from email and phone communications and distributes it to the assigned contact.
  • Provides problem escalation support and issue resolution, following up on service challenges and working with management for corrective action.
  • Delivers technical assistance for all meetings and customers that require tech services for their events.
  • Follows SOPs for audio‑visual support as provided by the AV Manager and Director of Technology and Operations.
  • Conducts weekly preventative maintenance room sweeps and reports sweep information through the database.
  • Replaces projectors, lamps, and cabling associated with integrated systems across the portfolio.
  • Reviews the operation of equipment with customers and ensures they are comfortable using it.
  • Assists with equipment operation and troubleshoots problems for customers.
  • Educates staff and customers on the basics of all AV equipment in the facility.
  • Maintains metrics for room equipment inventory and repair/replacement records.
  • Communicates with coworkers and service partners to share updated information.
  • Assists with conference‑room set‑ups, break‑downs, and other areas as needed.
  • Keeps the A/V storerooms organized and well managed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of one year of experience supporting audio‑visual for events.
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of office technology/equipment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
