Youth Services Librarian II - Mountain View Regional Library

Join to apply for the Youth Services Librarian II role at Cobb County Government located at the Mountain View Regional Library in Northeast Cobb County. This position reports to the Youth Services Department and is responsible for implementing programs for children and families.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, direct, and evaluate assigned employees, volunteers, or community service workers.
  • Supervise operations of a branch or assigned collection, including scheduling, training, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Develop and implement library programs and activities, design programming, maintain records, and recommend resource allocations.
  • Provide customer service to patrons, including assistance with programs, materials, and technology.
  • Supervise selection, retention, and general development of the library collection.
  • Monitor usage of library computers and enforce computer rules.
  • Process inter‑library loan requests.
  • Provide outreach for the branch, visiting schools, attending community meetings, and promoting literacy programs.
  • Perform related administrative duties such as monitoring safety, inventory, and maintenance.
  • Assist with circulation services and general library operations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Library Science & Information Science from an ALA‑accredited university.
  • One year of librarian experience in library operations.
  • Valid Georgia Librarian certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enjoy working with children and families.
  • Enjoy outreach and community engagement.
  • Experience as a supervisor.

Physical Abilities

  • Ability to exert moderate physical effort involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting/carrying 12‑20 lbs.

Sensory Requirements

  • Ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors

  • Exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as irate customers.
