This position facilitates information literacy classes, reference services, and technology assistance to support student learning and research in both digital and traditional environments. It develops instructional materials, manages assigned areas of the library collection, and contributes to outreach, programming, and display creation. Additionally, it supports the Federal Depository Library collection, advises students on academic matters, and participates in learning outcome assessments.

Classification: Non-Affiliated Administrator
Staff duration: Part-time, 12 months, 20 hours per week (Mon – Fri, 8:00 am – 3:00 pm)

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates supplemental information literacy classes and provides reference services in both digital and traditional formats, including real-time chat or virtual sessions.
  • Develops resource-specific informational materials, educational materials, and instructional resources for traditional and digital delivery.
  • Assists with the OCC Library Selective Federal Depository Library collection, performing community outreach, programming, and display development.
  • Develops displays and programs for other collections in consultation with faculty and staff.
  • Assists library users with computer, software, printing, internet, and database questions.
  • Performs collection development for assigned areas.
  • Advises students on academic curriculum and participates in student learning outcome assessments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • MLIS degree or equivalent, or within 6 months of obtaining an MLIS degree.
  • 3 years of library experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication and technical skills.
  • Knowledge of print and online library resources.
  • Experience providing reference and instruction services in an academic or public library setting.
  • Knowledge of information literacy frameworks and best practices for library instruction.
  • Proficiency with digital reference platforms, library databases, and learning management systems.

Salary & Location

Toms River, NJ – $55,000.00 – $65,000.00
