Position Summary
The Web Developer will play a critical role in supporting OneCarolina’s digital transformation initiatives by developing, customizing, and maintaining Drupal‑based websites and platforms. This position focuses on creating and maintaining high‑quality, user‑friendly, and scalable web properties, including the university’s Campaign site and the internal OneCarolina Hub. The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with collaborative problem‑solving skills to enhance user engagement, operational efficiency, and organizational impact.
As a core member of the University Development Office’s Digital Innovation team, the Web Developer works closely with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure seamless communication, alignment, and project delivery. This role also ensures the university’s digital properties meet accessibility, security, and performance standards while remaining adaptable to evolving technological trends.
Minimum Education And Experience Requirements
Master’s degree and 1–2 years’ experience; or Bachelors degree and 2–4 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
- Proficiency in developing and maintaining Drupal websites, including experience with recent Drupal releases.
- Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL.
- Experience with theming, custom module development, and third‑party integrations.
- Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG), security best practices, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across diverse teams.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, And Experience
- Experience working in higher education or large, decentralized organizations.
- Familiarity with Acquia or other Drupal hosting platforms.
- Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD workflows.
- Understanding of digital marketing technologies (e.g., Salesforce Marketing Cloud) and analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics).
