Hourly Pay Rate: $16.46 - $17.57
Location: Central Library
Civil Service: Not Applicable
Shift Hours: Includes evenings & Saturdays, as assigned (20 hours/week)
Education, Experience and Skill Requirements
• Bilingual Spanish Required (Must read/write/speak fluent Spanish. Test will be required at interview)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, oral and written
• Ability to set goals, organize work priorities, and accomplish objectives, including in a team setting
• Physical ability to perform responsibilities with ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
• Must pass background investigation
• Valid Texas driver's license with acceptable driving record (must be verifiable by TX DPS)
Primary Job Duties
• Create and maintain contacts throughout the County, promoting Genealogy & Preservation Center to underserved populations. This includes traveling throughout the County to attend outreach events, meetings, networking opportunities, and classes
• Teach and assist visitors with digitization technology
• Create presentations, publicity, and instruction materials, and social media postings
• Host events and tours in Genealogy & Preservation Center for new contacts, partners, and visitor groups
• Assist patrons navigating the collection and locating genealogy resources and databases
• Responds to telephone, mail and email questions
• Follows and informs the public of the policy and procedures of the Library System and County
• Works evenings and weekends as scheduled, responding to librarian in charge
• Performs other duties as assigned
After receiving a conditional offer of employment, applicant must pass a drug screen (1/2 cost = $20.00, responsibility of applicant) and may need a physical agility test (1/2 cost = $22.50, responsibility of applicant) before becoming an employee of Montgomery County.
