Our client, a leading manufacturer in the professional audio and consumer electronics industry, is seeking a Head of Product Development to lead innovation across product design, engineering, and quality management. This executive-level position will oversee domestic and international teams, including U.S.-based R&D and engineering groups, as well as China-based program and quality managers in an OEM/ODM environment.
The ideal candidate is both a visionary strategist and a hands-on leader with deep expertise in audio, wireless microphone systems, portable PA, musical instruments, and consumer electronics.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end product development lifecycle, overseeing 10-20 new product launches annually.
- Manage global teams across R&D, engineering design, and supplier quality.
- Define technology and innovation strategies aligned with market insights and customer needs.
- Build and maintain strong OEM/ODM supplier relationships, driving efficiency, reliability, and innovation.
- Oversee supplier quality and performance management in line with global standards (ISO, RoHS, REACH).
- Drive cost optimization through lean manufacturing, value engineering, and supplier negotiations.
- Partner cross-functionally with Marketing, Sales, and Operations to align product development with business goals.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven analytics.
- Manage compliance, risk mitigation, and global trade adherence across the supply chain.
Qualifications
- 15+ years of progressive experience in global product development, engineering, and supply chain management within the audio, musical instrument, or consumer electronics industries.
- Proven success leading cross-functional and global teams, delivering innovative and profitable products.
- Expertise in OEM/ODM manufacturing, supplier management, and Asia-based production ecosystems.
- Strong understanding of RF and wireless technologies (UHF, VHF, digital wireless), DSP, and acoustic engineering.
- Knowledge of transducer design, plastics, tooling, and high-volume manufacturing.
- Background in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering preferred.
- Experience with agile and lean product development methodologies.
- Based in Long Island, NY, with international travel (primarily to Asia) approximately twice per year.
- Flexible schedule to accommodate collaboration across global time zones.
